More Flickr Pix

Here are some more photos taken by my son the photographer.
(I'm sure glad he didn't fall into the water pictured below when he took that one.)

Billings Crowne Plaza

He's really into skyscapes.

One more Montana sky pic

My son and daughter and I are going to London and Paris next week for the trip of a lifetime. I'm really curious to see what kind of photos he'll take in that environment.

RSS Feeds

"RSS feeds" was not the easiest topic in the Library 2.0 Challenge course for me to understand. I first thought that new posts to the blogs I selected for RSS feeds would show up in my email. Wrong! Apparently I must go to my account at bloglines to see if anything new has been posted. But wouldn't it be more convenient if this info showed up in my incoming email or on my blog page or home page or another page I frequent on the internet?

Paul Potts

Is there anyone who hasn't seen Paul Potts' audition for Britain's Got Talent yet? Take a look and be inspired.

Wiimote

I just viewed some amazing videos on the web. They show how a Wii remote can be used so that moving one's fingers in the air in front of a computer screen will act like a mouse. Also moving one's head. Also using a Wiimote to turn any simple projection screen (or blank painted wall or blank sheet of paper on a tabletop, etc.) into a Smartboard. See for yourself what Johnny Lee is inventing at:

Successfully left a comment!

Hey, I'm pleased to say that I just posted to someone else's blog. First time for me! And it wasn't the blog of someone I know, either, but instead it was a stranger's blog that reported the discovery of an old lp of a rather obscure but excellent Twin Cities band from the seventies. (Debb johnson - Does anyone else remember debb johnson?) I own the record, too, but I bought it new way back then and have saved it - and enjoyed it - all these years. So I left a comment about it!

Post Number 2

So what is the easiest habit for me on the previous list?

It's number 4 - Have confidence in yourself as a competent, effective learner.
It's never been difficult for me to learn about any topic that I set my mind to - with the possible exception of electricity, which still seems a little like magic to me!

And what's the hardest one on the list?

That's probably number 7 - Teach/mentor others.
I tend to forget about sharing what I've learned with others. Or, they are busy with their own concerns and I hesitate to add unsolicited info to their attention.

My Very First Post to a Blog

1. Begin with the end in mind.

2. Accept responsibility for your own learning.

3. View problems as challenges.

4. Have confidence in yourself as a competent, effective learner.

5. Create your own learning toolbox.

6. Use technology to your advantage.

7. Teach/mentor others.
